Good morning,  04 July 2008

WELCOME. Thank you for visiting Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church Website.

The parishioners of both Our Lady Star of the Sea North Berwick and Our Lady of The Waves Dunbar were delighted to hear on Sunday 6th April 2008 that their parish priest Fr. Stephen Robson had been elevated by His Holiness Pope Benedict XV1 to the position of "Chaplain to His Holiness" with the title of Very Reverend Monsignor. Congratulations to Mgr. Robson from all his parishioners.

Our parish is situated on the beautiful East Lothian coastline 20 miles East of Edinburgh. We are present in the famous Pilgrimage triangle of Haddington and Whitekirk (our Lady), Dunfermline (St Margaret of Scotland) and St Andrews (St Andrew) – all within our Archdiocese. North Berwick is proud to be associated with the Pilgrimage movement which, in the Middle Ages, saw some 100,000 visitors a year coming to our area from continental Europe on the way to or from St. Andrews. Today there is an Annual Ecumenical Pilgrimage to honour our Lady in Haddington and Whitekirk.

Our parish of Our Lady, Star of the Sea is also twinned with the nearby parish of Our Lady of the Waves, Dunbar where our priest, Father Stephen Robson is Parish Priest also. In addition, he is Chancellor of the Archdiocese and a Judge on the Scottish National Catholic Tribunal.

Father Stephen has returned to the Archdiocese after having being Spiritual and Human Formation Director at the Pontifical Scots College in Rome for over eight years.

The East Lothian coastal area, especially in our parish from Longniddry Bents through Aberlady, Gullane and Dirleton to North Berwick and beyond, sports some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in Scotland. The stretch from North Berwick to Dunbar and beyond as far as Co'burnspath has its own special charms including the world famous seabird sanctuary on the Bass Rock, Tantallon Castle and the famous John Muir Country and wildlife centre. Our parishes boast 14 golf courses and some of the finest hotels in Scotland, so bring your golf clubs.

If you are a visitor to the parish, we wish you a pleasant stay in the North Berwick area. Mass and Service times are set out along with times of Sunday Masses in other neighbouring East Lothian parishes. You will find a map showing how to find us if you follow the appropriate link.

Visitors (and parishioners) may find considerable interest in the Photo Gallery pages and also in the History of the Parish going back to the times before there was a Catholic Church in North Berwick. Follow the links on the left for these pages.

This site also includes some information about Our Lady Star of the Waves, Dunbar and in particular the current weekly newsletter. We hope in the near future to be able to include more information about Our Lady Star of the Waves on this web site.
